The Persistence of Memory
Salvador Dalí notwithstanding, the present title comprises part of a curious thematic sub-series on “persistence”, occupying some six months of PhotoStatic’s output.
A extended series of xero-collages by Carol Stetser forms the core of the issue, offering a kind of visual essay exploring photography and its relationship to human memory. Stetser does this with a succession of distorted, nostalgic mementos overlaid with a text statement.
Adding roundness to the collection are shorter series of works by Tom Hibbard and Edgar Allen Bushmiller; and additionally, more collages appear by other artists.
