Degeneration
The title of this issue is taken directly from the name of a multimedia piece that the editor created that explored what happens when an image is reproduced and re-reproduced repeatedly, through multiple generations. This was a huge concern for photocopy artists, as they attempted to catalog and exploit the medium’s naturally-occurring visual effects. As was typical from this stage of PhotoStatic’s development, most (though not all) of the works appearing in this issue came from people living in Iowa City at the time.
