The Dan Rather Issue
Manipulating the media manipulators, this issue puts the idea of the “news” on the cut-and-paste chopping block, the news anchor Dan Rather being the nominative target. (At this late date, we’re probably all a little fatigued with the media-criticism genre of art; keep in mind that this issue came out 18 years ago, when this topic was a bit fresher.)
Probably the core of the present collection consists of Harry Polkinhorn’s text “The 6 O’clock News” and two collage-series works by Miekal And and the Drawing Legion’s F. John Herbert. Other PhotoStatic luminaries such as Uta-Maria Krapf, Crag Hill, Piotr Szyhalski, among others, also offer their visual insights. Lang Thompson chimes in with #4 of his “Funnies” series.
The usual editor reviewing the items he received in the mail ends the issue, as usual.
